Kit List

At Sweet Adventures, we want you to have a safe and enjoyable experience while exploring the great outdoors. To ensure you're well-prepared for your mountain adventure, we've compiled a list of essential items you should bring along. These will not only keep you comfortable but also help in unforeseen situations.

1. Embrace Footwear that Conquers Terrain

Mountains demand shoes that can handle the rugged landscapes with ease. Opt for sturdy and supportive walking boots, providing unparalleled ankle support for those rocky ascents and uneven paths. Sweet Adventures tip: Break them in before the adventure to avoid those dreaded blisters!

2. Be Weather-Wise with Waterproof Gear

Weather unpredictability is part of the mountain charm! Arm yourself with reliable waterproof clothing that laughs in the face of rain and wind. A waterproof jacket and trousers will shield you from the elements while keeping you cosy, even in the midst of gusty weather. Sweet Adventures tip: Embrace the dance of affordable and premium options, whichever suits your adventure style.

3. Gear Up with Comfortable Lightweight Clothing

Leave those jeans behind and embrace the freedom of lightweight and breathable clothing. Walking trousers that dry swiftly will be your new favourite adventure companion. On your upper half, say goodbye to moisture-retaining cotton and welcome synthetic T-shirts that let your skin breathe and feel fantastic. Sweet Adventures tip: Treat yourself to the magic of merino wool for an added touch of luxury.

4. Layer Up for Mountain Magic

Unpredictable weather is no match for your preparedness! Layer up with a spare warm layer to ensure you stay snug during breaks or when the chilly winds come knocking. We always advise that the more layers the better. Sweet Adventures tip: Be the master of warmth by layering smartly and relish every moment in the mountains.

5. Don't Leave Home Without Hat & Gloves

Even the brightest sun-kissed days can take a sudden twist. Make sure you're ready for any temperature change with a trusty hat and gloves. Embrace the comfort of keeping your fingers and ears shielded, whatever the weather brings. Waterproof Hats and Gloves are the gold standard. Sweet Adventures tip: One pair won't cut it; be sure to pack extras for those unexpected surprises!

6. Illuminate Your Journey

Whether you're chasing the sunset or navigating through shadows, a reliable headtorch will be your guiding light. Be prepared for captivating dusk views and an enchanting journey back after dark. Essential for Sunrise Hikes but always worth packing for emergencies. Sweet Adventures tip: Be the glow-getter and invest in a head torch for hands-free magic.

7. Savor a Sumptuous Packed Lunch

Fuel your soul with a delightful packed lunch, crafted to keep your spirits high and energy soaring. Our adventures may burn calories, but a hearty meal will keep you fueled and ready to take on the world!  Sweet Adventures tip: Take pocket loads of Snacks and Protein Bars to keep you fueled for the day.

8. Hydrate Like a Mountain Explorer

Water is your ally, keeping you hydrated and strong as you ascend to new heights. Ensure you have enough water for summer sizzles or bring a flask in winter to bask in the warmth of a soothing drink. We recommend a minimum of 2 Litres per walk. Sweet Adventures tip: Hydration is key, but a flask with a hot beverage adds that much-needed mountain charm.

9. Cool Kids Wear Backpacks

Food, Snacks, Water, Layers, Waterproofs, Headtorch... any hike means coming prepared which means a backpack is an essential item on your Kit List, we normally suggest 30-35L should be big enough for everything. Sweet Adventures tip: Look for a backpack with vented back panels for extra comfort.

10. Swim Gear

Chosen to join us on an optional wild swim? Then you need to bring your swimsuit or swim shorts along with a towel. We also recommend some swim shoes or old trainers as it can be rocky getting into the water. Sweet Adventures tip: You might find a changing robe is helpful in saving any blushes.

Useful Extras

Some optional extras include Walking Poles, a Powerbank, Dry Bags, Sunglasses, Suncream, Midge Net/Spray along with a personal First Aid Kit with Painkillers and Plasters.

At Sweet Adventures, we believe in the power of preparedness and stylish exploration. With this gear list, you're primed to embrace every enchanting moment our mountains offer. Let's embark on unforgettable journeys together and let nature's wonder unravel before your very eyes!
