About the event
This course is designed for those that have some navigation experience and have previously attended a Winter Skills Course or have some personal experience using ice axe & crampons. The dates for these courses are scheduled so that you can add it on to a two day winter skills course if you have not already completed one of these.
The focus of these two days is to develop skills and confidence particularly in relation to winter navigation techniques, understanding weather and conditions, route planning and decision making. There will be opportunity to refresh and improve winter movement skills including the use of ice axe and crampons however, this is not the main focus and you should have some existing experience of these.
The course will take place outdoors in a mountain environment and will enable you to learn new skills and practice them within a variety of contexts. One of the days will involve staying out beyond sunset or starting before sunrise and navigating on the hill in the dark. One day will be a skills based day and the other a longer journey day through the mountains putting skills into context.
Difficulty: Beginner Duration: 2 days
