Our 2-day Mountain Skills Course in Eryri (Snowdonia) is designed to equip you with essential knowledge and practical skills to plan, navigate, and stay safe in the mountains. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to solidify your skills, this course provides the building blocks for mountain independence.

With a small group size (maximum 4 participants per instructor), you’ll benefit from personalized coaching and hands-on learning in one of the UK’s most stunning outdoor locations. Please note: accommodation is not included, giving you the flexibility to choose a stay that suits your preferences.

What You’ll Learn

• Day 1: Navigation and Planning

  Master the art of route planning, map reading, and weather forecasting. Learn how to use navigation apps, apply Naismith’s Rule for estimating travel times, and practice key techniques like taking bearings, relocating, and the "3 Ds of navigation."

• Day 2: Steep Ground and Safety

  Gain confidence in moving over steep terrain, interpreting guidebooks, and route finding. You’ll also cover essential safety techniques, including what to do if things don’t go as planned, and get an overview of the right clothing and equipment for mountain adventures.
